A 20-game schedule with all 30 NHL teams making the playoffs?
That's the framework commissioner Gary Bettman and team owners have in mind if a new collective bargaining agreement with the NHLPA can be struck and what remains of the 2004-05 season can be salvaged, an NHL source told the Sun yesterday.
According to the source, teams would play a 20-game schedule with no games between the Western Conference and Eastern Conference.
They would then open playoffs with all 30 teams in best-of-five series.
The plan would provide all owners with post-season revenue - players aren't paid beyond their regular season salaries for playoffs.
