Hockey Boo in Canada

Jeff Powell wants to hear from hockey fans across the country tomorrow night when Hockey Night in Canada would have been on.

HOCKEY CALL TO ARMS

The 23-year-old Powell, a marketing assistant and part-time musician from Vancouver, is trying to organize the Great Canada Hockey Call to Arms tomorrow at 7 p.m. from coast to coast for a two-minute "booing" session to protest the NHL lockout.

Under Powell's plan, fans will show up to places like the Corel Centre to let their feelings be known.

"I don't think we need people going hip-hip-hooray," Powell told the Winnipeg Sun earlier this month. "The Great Canadian Hockey Call to Arms is about booing these guys like we just lost the game. We're losing the game right now.

"If you were at a game and seeing your team give a lousy effort, which (Bob) Goodenow and (Gary) Betman are giving, you'd be booing senseless ... they're doing a stinking job trying to resolve this."

RALLYING SUPPORT

Powel has spent the last month trying to get his message across through the media, doing radio interviews throughout Canada rallying support.
