BROSSARD, QUE. - Fans of the Florida Panthers might want to start biting their fingernails.

Canadian defenceman Aaron Ekblad, picked first overall by the Panthers in the NHL draft in June, suffered a concussion during a world junior camp exhibition game Tuesday night and has been sent home.

“We expect a full recovery,” Hockey Canada vice-president of hockey operations Scott Salmond said Wednesday. “When he did test last night, his scores were low, which is a good thing. He came in this morning, he had not cleared, so he still felt a little foggy and did not feel great.

“At this time of the year, with who he is, we take every precaution, make sure he is healthy and he is ready to go to (Panthers training) camp.”
