MALMO, SWEDEN - Colin Muller had to get his point across, and in a hurry.

So the Switzerland coach figured he had no choice but to break his stick during practice on Wednesday.

“I’m trying to get our guys motivated,” Muller, a 50-year-old native of Scarborough who has lived in Switzerland for the past 30 years, said.

“I had to tell them, ‘Guys, this could be the biggest game of your lives.’

“You beat Canada tomorrow, you are never going to forget it. Get pumped. But that is Swiss mentality. It is really hard to get a word out of their mouths.”

The Swiss finished fourth in Group B at the 2014 world junior, beating Finland and Norway and losing against Russia and Sweden.

Canada and Switzerland will meet in one of four quarterfinals on Thursday.
