LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - If the most talented hockey players demand nothing short of perfection from themselves, then perhaps it wasn't surprising to hear what Connor McDavid had to say about his performance on Thursday.

Asked to assess his play in Canada's 7-3 victory against Sweden at the Herb Brooks Arena, McDavid's answer was curt.

"I would say C-plus," the native of Newmarket, Ont., said. "I don't think it was my best game by any means."

Perhaps it wasn't. After all, McDavid didn't score on every shift. He did create scoring chances just about every time he was on the ice, though, and did score a nifty power-play goal in the second period.
