World Junior snapshots: Canada wins 'our game'

Day 5 of the WJC

The best TV commercial during the World Junior Championship has hamburger-patty shooting Canadians defying anyone to take away “our game.”

The representatives battling for global supremacy in Ufa, Russia dared the U.S.A. to “just do it” Sunday morning before emerging with a 2-1 victory that stated Canada is, at the very least, the top team at the tournament from North America.

It set up nicely an interesting match for a bye into the semi-finals against the also-unbeaten hosts Monday.

Any questions about Canada’s goaltending were answered loudly by Malcolm Subban, who was absolutely brilliant in stopping 36 shots, including all 25 he faced in the first two periods. Subban had to be great to beat American netminder John Gibson, who also turned in a stellar performance.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
