CALGARY - In a cruel twist of irony, the first song after Wednesday's pre-game warmup was Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe.'

For Canada's world-junior wannabes, a phone call was the last thing they wanted.

Head coach Steve Spott and his staff made their first cuts after Wednesday's 4-1 exhibition loss to the University of Alberta Golden Bears, sending five skaters home after just two days of evaluation camp in Calgary.
