NHL lockout a blessing and a curse for Team Canada
By ERIC FRANCIS, QMI Agency
CALGARY - Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke isn’t the only NHL GM who has informed Hockey Canada brass he won’t pull one of his top prospects out of the world juniors if the NHL ends its lockout. Director of hockey operations Scott Salmond told QMI Agency on Tuesday he has now received similar assurances from NHL GMs representing more than half of the 11 players eligible for recall. “The majority are in support of the guys playing on the national junior team and once we go over there they’re going to let them stay,” said Salmond, whose final roster of 23 players leaves for Europe Dec. 15. |
