CALGARY - He looks good, and he knows it.

Brendan Gallagher and his Team Canada teammates were wearing new Stetsons when they climbed off the bus Sunday at the Saddledome.

"I think I look really good in my cowboy hat," Gallagher said with his trademark grin. "Other people don't think I look so good.

"I'm taking a bit of heat for it but I try to wear it all the time.

"It's my first-ever cowboy hat. I fit in in Alberta, I guess."

Gallagher also picked up a new belt and buckle -- his award for being named Team Canada's player of the game against the Americans.

Those items, he said, will probably remain in the box.

"It's in a nice plaque," he said. "I haven't taken it out yet.

"I might take it out and look at it, but I don't know if I'll wear it. It's pretty flashy."

Calgary hockey fans have patiently awaited the arrival of Team Canada for the medal round.

Gallagher said he expects the Saddledome crowd to give the team a lift.

"The fans have been amazing," he said. "We've tried to use them every game. Whenever we need a little push, they're making noise.

"Edmonton treated us very well and we know Calgary will do the same."

U.S. PROVIDED TEST

The Americans gave Canada a fight Saturday night.

And the hosts are thankful for it.

"It was a good test for us against the Americans," d-man Brandon Gormley said. "It was good for us that we had that test."

Head coach Don Hay agreed.

"We knew they were going to play their best game and we'd have to bump up our competition level to match them," Hay said.
