Three sky-high members of Canada's gold-medal winning world junior hockey
squad touched down at Pearson this morning.
"I know I was excited," said John Tavares, who was named tournament MVP. "I
was just so happy and so proud to be Canadian."
Tavares said the first thing on his to-do list is to get some sleep.
Also arriving this morning on the same flight from Ottawa were Cody Hodgson
and Alex Pietrangelo.
All three had their gold medals draped around their neck.
"It's been amazing," said Hodgson. "Everybody's been shaking my hand all
morning."
Canada's junior team made it five championships in a row after defeating
Sweden 5-1 in last night's gold medal game in Ottawa.
The players have now disbursed and spent today heading back to their club
teams across North America.
