Saginaw Spirit defenceman Dalton Young has been charged with assault after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend's dad in the back.

Young's latest arrest comes a day after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

The 20-year-old OHLer was arraigned Sunday on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, first-degree home invasion and resisting and obstructing a police officer, authorities told the Port Huron Times Herald.

Young was first arrested Thursday after he allegedly assaulted his 20-year-old girlfriend. He was arraigned Friday and released with a no-contact order.

Authorities allege Young visited his girlfriend’s house in Marysville, Mich., later that day. Upon learning she wasn’t home, he allegedly forced his way inside.

The woman’s parents called Young’s parents, who went to the victim's home. While both couples were speaking, Young allegedly stabbed his girlfriend’s father in the back.

Police were called and after officers attended to the wounded man, they found Young attempting to remove a rifle that was locked to a secure rack in a patrol car.

Young was arrested with bond set at $50,000. He has a no-contact order and can be released only if he wears a GPS device.

The 48-year-old male stabbing victim was treated and released from hospital.
