Battalion coach gets eight-game ban
By QMI Agency

Brampton Battalion coach Stan Butler was suspended for eight games Thursday for berating referee Mike Marley following a game against the Sudbury Wolves last week.

Butler was given a pair of game misconducts for abuse of an official after yelling at Marley on the ice and in a corridor at the Powerade Centre on Sunday. He was miffed that Sudbury's Josh Leivo wasn't given an instigator penalty for starting a fight with Battalion defenceman Cameron Wind midway through the third period.

"I'm very disappointed with the decision," Butler said on the team's website.

Butler will start serving the suspension Friday when the Central Division-leading Battalion hosts the Barrie Colts. He's eligible to return Feb. 12
