By QMI Agency

Canada shook off a disappointing loss in the opener of the Ivan Hlinka tournament to defeat the Czech Republic 6-1 Tuesday.

The Canadians, who lost their opening game 5-1 to Sweden Monday, squared their record in the under-18 hockey tournament with a solid showing against the Czechs, outshooting the tournament hosts 43-14 at Alcaplast Arena in Breclav.

Morgan Rielly, Charles Hudon, Sean Monahan, Jarrod Maidens, Mathew Dumba and Andreas Athanasiou scored for Canada -- the first four goals coming in the second period.

Pavel Sedlacek replied for the Czechs.

Canada plays Switzerland Wednesday.
