Knights make trades before deadline
By RYAN PYETTE, QMI Agency
Win or lose, the London Knights are finishing this OHL season one way -- young.
The Knights traded captain Michael D'Orazio and veteran forward Chris DeSousa to the Memorial Cup host Mississauga St. Michael's Majors before the league's trade deadline Monday at noon.
D'Orazio, a 20-year-old defenceman, fetched three second-round picks from Dave Cameron's Majors (2015, 2016, 2017). DeSousa, who's been out of the lineup with concussion symptoms, went for a second-round and fourth-round pick.
The Knights also flipped 19-year-old tough guy Victor Terreri to Niagara for fifth- and eighth-round selection, while gritty Tyler Brown went to Kingston for fourth- and eighth-round picks.
The Knights did acquire one veteran player -- 6-foot-2, 205-pound overage Londoner Kyle Decoste, who scored 17 goals last year for the Belleville Bulls.
He has only played 20 games this year.
London head coach Dale Hunter said he'll decide this week who will be the Knights' new captain.
