Canada to face Czechs in Hlinka semis
By QMI Agency

Canada will head into the semifinals of the under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament with its perfect record intact.

After opening the tournament with wins over Sweden and Switzerland, Canada wrapped up the round-robin with a 6-1 win over Slovakia Wednesday in Piestany, Slovakia.

Canada will face the host Czech Republic in the semifinals Friday in Breclav. The United States will face Sweden in the other semifinal, with the winners meeting Saturday.

Boone Jenner of the Oshawa Generals scored twice to pace Canada while Duncan Siemens of the Saskatoon Blades and Matt Puempel of the Peterborough Petes both had a goal and assist. London Knights defenceman Scott Harrington and Myles Bell of the Regina Pats also scored.

Tyson Teichmann of the Belleville Bulls stopped 25 shots to earn his third win of the tournament.

Canada broke open a close game with three goals in 53 seconds midway through the third period.

Martin Gernat had the lone goal for Slovakia while Adam Nagy made 39 saves.
