The Calgary Hitmen will have plenty of time to stew about their latest loss.

The Hitmen will enter the holiday break atop the Western Hockey League standings, but wasted a chance to pad their lead by surrendering six unanswered goals, including four second-period markers, in a 6-4 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers last night.

Tyler Fiddler and enforcer Rigby Burgart both scored in the opening frame to give the Hitmen a 2-0 lead, but the host Tigers -- led by a line of Emerson Etem, Taylor Gal and Kale Kessy -- scored six times on starter Michael Snider to blow it wide-open.

Hitmen defenceman Matt MacKenzie and Fiddler, with his second of the night, each bulged the twine in the third period to close the gap. But it was too little, too late.

Forward Misha Fisenko, who'll skate for Russia at the world junior tournament, had three assists for Calgary.

The Hitmen will have a week to enjoy the holiday break before returning Dec. 27, when they visit the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook.
