Kozun all-world to start WHL season
By SCOTT FISHER, SUN MEDIA

If Brandon Kozun doesn't get a Christmas vacation, he has only himself to blame.

The way he's playing now, the Calgary Hitmen winger has to be considered a prime candidate to be playing for Team Canada at the world junior tournament.

Kozun, who added four points yesterday to his league-leading total (43), said he hasn't purchased a ticket to Saskatoon, which is co-hosting this year's event.

"Not yet," Kozun said with a smile. "But I'm working on it.

"Hopefully, I'll be there."

After piling up 108 points last season, Kozun's offensive numbers should come as a surprise to no one.

But the consistency he has displayed has been remarkable.

The Los Angeles Kings prospect extended his points streak to 16 games yesterday. Pavel Brendl holds the club record for the longest scoring streak. He had 49 points over a 20-game tear in 1998-99.

Kozun's linemate Chase Schaber said his winger hasn't taken a night off.

"He comes ready to go every game," Schaber said. "He puts his nose to the twine and gets it done."

If not for a two-game 'slump' in early October, Kozun would have a point in every game this season.

Schaber said he's enjoying the increase in offensive chances he gets by playing with the speedy Kozun.

"I love playing with him. He opens up everything with his speed."
