The Edmonton Oil Kings entered the 2009-10 season with expectations of being a playoff team.

The Brandon Wheat Kings entered the season with the burden of hosting the Memorial Cup and with expectations of being more than just token hosts.

But the early season returns are showing a possible turning of the tables as the Oil Kings enter today's game with the better record and coming off a road-trip ending win in Swift Current.

The 5-2 win Saturday night was the first home loss of the season for the Speedy Creekers and gave the OKs a four-game winning streak against Saskatchewan teams.

Tomas Vincour scored twice -- including the winner -- as injury-bitten Edmonton bounced back from a 5-2 loss in Lethbridge the night before.

Backup Cam Lanigan stopped 24 in Swift Current.

"We had no passengers tonight and that's what it takes to win when you have injuries," head coach Steve Pleau said on the Oil Kings web site.

"Lanigan made some good saves while we were getting the bus legs out early and the guys battled hard."

Meanwhile, the Wheat Kings are just batting .500 after a loss last night in Red Deer.

It's the second loss for the Wheaties this season at the hands of the 4-6 Rebels.
