The Calgary Hitmen have their schedule.

And it's one most fans will be happy with.

Hitmen director of business operations Mike Moore said the club is pleased to have 23 of the club's home dates on weekends -- seven on Fridays, five on Saturdays and 11 on Sundays.

"We have a lot of good weekend dates," Moore said.

"We're all about families, students, kids, that whole demographic."

The Hitmen open the season with a three-game road trip beginning in Red Deer Friday, Sept. 18. They'll also host the Rebels in the home opener Sunday, Sept. 27.

The Hitmen will play each of their Central Division rivals six times, except the Kootenay Ice, who appear eight times on the schedule.

The Ice will provide the opposition for the annual Teddy Bear Toss Sunday, Dec. 13.

Play-by-play man Brad Curle will call 43 games on the Fan 960.

Pogge on the move

Former Hitmen goaltender Justin Pogge has a new lease on life.

Stuck behind Toronto Maple Leafs starter Vesa Toskala, and now Swedish free-agent signee Jonas Gustavsson, Pogge was shipped to the Anaheim Ducks yesterday.

The Leafs received a conditional draft pick based on how much Pogge, 23, plays.
