BELLEVILLE -- The real Belleville Bulls showed up last night at Yardmen Arena.

After one mediocre performance and one terrible outing, the Bulls put it together in Game 3 of the OHL Eastern Conference final with a convincing 6-2 win over the Brampton Battalion. The Troops lead 2-1 in the best-of-seven set with Game 4 tomorrow at Brampton.

Nick Palmieri paced the Bulls with three goals and two assists while Shawn Lalonde tallied twice. Brandon Mashinter had the other Belleville goal. Anthony Peluso scored both Brampton goals.

The Bulls trailed 2-1 after the firs period, but roared back with four unanswered second-period markers and a late power-play goal in the third.

"We got a couple of lucky bounces in the first period to take that 2-1 lead," said Peluso, who incurred the wrath of the 3,238 on hand after rubbing out Matt Tipoff with a hit-from-behind early in the third period. "But after that, Belleville took it to us."

After a 7-2 loss on Friday at Brampton, Bulls coach George Burnett tried to explain the turnaround.

"If we had all the answers, we wouldn't have had to respond like we did tonight," he said. "I think the guys were a little embarrassed after Friday night. They recognized the importance of responding tonight. Down 3-0 in this series was not a position we wanted to be in. Our guys should be proud of this effort but there's still a big hill to climb."
