Attack goalie too much for the Troops

The Brampton Battalion threw everything it had at the Attack last night in Owen Sound, but lost ground in its chase for first place in the Ontario Hockey League's Eastern Conference standings with a 6-3 defeat.

The Troops fired 58 shots at Attack goalie Tyler Beskorowany with Thomas Stajan, Sam Carrick and Josh Day the only ones to beat him. Joey Hishon led the Owen Sound offence with three goals.

The loss, combined with Belleville's win last night, dropped Brampton four points behind the first-place Bulls.

BULLS 5, RANGERS 3

At Belleville, Brandon Mashinter and Luke Judson scored 45 seconds apart late in the second period to put the Bulls in command with a 4-1 lead.

GENERALS 5, PETES 4

At Peterborough, defenceman Tony DeHart scored on the power-play at 2:21 of overtime after the Petes had battled back from a 4-2 deficit in the third period.

Andy Andreoff, Jeff Brown, Calvin de Haan and Brett Parnham had the other Oshawa goals while Sergey Korostin led the Petes with a pair of goals.

WOLVES 4, COLTS 2

At Sudbury, Eric O'Dell, Jared Staal and John McFarland all scored in the final 10 minutes to erase a 2-1 Barrie lead.

Kyle Clifford and Darren Archibald had the Colts goals.SPIRIT 4, STORM 3

At Saginaw, Mich., Jack Combs scored his second goal of the game, 42 seconds into overtime as the Spirit won its second in a row after breaking off a five-game losing streak.

Cody McNaughton, Tim Priamo and Nathan Martine scored for Guelph.

OTTERS 7, WHALERS 4

At Plymouth, Mich., Brandon Biggers scored three times, the first two in a four-goal first period for Erie.

Zach Torquato contributed a goal and three assists for the visiting Otters.
