No one expected the Regina Pats to be in this position.

Not with less than a month to go in the WHL's regular season.

The Pats, with Canadian world junior stars Jordan Eberle and Colten Teubert in the lineup, are in a fight for their playoff lives.

And they're losing.

"It's a tough ride right now," Eberle told the Regina Leader-Post. "No one wants to be in a situation like this. To come out of this, it's going to take something big."

The Pats have lost seven straight and trail the Prince Albert Raiders and Edmonton Oil Kings by four points for the final post-season berth in the Eastern Conference.

DINOS OFF TO CHINA

Former Calgary Hitmen defenceman Craig Lineker (UBC Thunderbirds) will join Calgary Dinos blueliner Travis Friedley on Canada's entry at the 24th Winter Universiade starting tomorrow in Harbin, China.

Other Dinos on the team who spent time in the Dub include forwards Brett O'Malley (Hitmen, Hurricanes), Reid Jorgensen (Blazers) and Torrie Wheat (Broncos, Silver Tips).

Canada will take on China (Friday), Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan during roundrobin play.
