Bulls keep east at arm's length

The Belleville Bulls regained their four-point lead on the Brampton Battalion atop the Ontario Hockey League's Eastern Conference standings last night in an 8-2 blowout over the visiting Erie Otters.

Eric Tangradi had three goals and Luke Pither racked up four assists for the Bulls, who pumped 68 shots at Erie goalie Shane Owen.

WHALERS 4, WOLVES 2

At Plymouth, Mich., the Wolves lost for the eighth time in nine games despite a two-goal effort from rookie John McFarland.

COLTS 3, FRONTENACS 1

At Barrie, Adam Payerl scored the eventual winner early in the third. Kyle Clifford and Alex Hutchings had the other goals for the Colts.

Both goalies were terrific with Michael Hutchinson stopping 42 shots for Barrie and Mavric Parks making 44 saves in the Kingston net.

ATTACK 5, STORM 4

At Owen Sound, Joey Hishon's two goals helped the Attack end a five-game winless streak. Matt Kennedy had two for the Storm with Tim Priamo and Tyler Melancon adding singles.

PETES 5, SPIRIT 4

At Saginaw, Mich., Ryan Spooner scored twice as the Petes rallied from a 3-1 deficit despite being outshot 59-30.

STING 4, GREYHOUNDS 2

At Sault Ste. Marie, Jamie Arniel and Ben O'Quinn scored third-period goals to erase a 2-1 deficit before Matt Martin iced it with an empty-netter.
