Emmerton clicks with Troops

Cory Emmerton made an immediate impact for the Brampton Battalion.

Acquired yesterday from the Kingston Frontenacs for forwards Justin Levac and Thomas Middup and five draft picks, Emmerton had a goal and two assists in Brampton's 5-4 overtime win in Kitchener against the Rangers last night.

A second-round pick by the Detroit Red Wings in 2006, Emmerton has been invited to try out for the Canadian national junior team for the world junior later this month.

Luke Lynes scored in overtime for the Battalion. Cody Hodgson, Luke VanMoerkerke and Graham McNabb also scored for the Battalion.

Justin Azevedo, Scott Timmins, Spencer Anderson and Alex Dzielski scored for Kitchener.

At Belleville, Matt Beleskey recorded a hat trick as the Bulls trampled visiting St. Michael's.
