The London Knights have picked a new assistant coach and it's Pickering Panthers skipper Pat Curcio.
The 33-year-old Toronto native, who led the Panthers to the third round of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League Tier II junior A playoffs this spring, replaces Todd Bidner behind the London bench this fall.
Curcio, a one-time Ottawa 67, played 10 years of pro hockey before turning to coaching.
He led the Toronto Red Wings to the final of the 2006 OHL Cup midget showcase, losing 3-2 to a Markham Waxers team featuring Sarnia Sting star Steve Stamkos.
"I'm excited about the opportunity -- I've known (London GM) Mark Hunter for years," Curcio said. "After I was done playing, I went to work for Gus Badali, who was Mark's agent (in the NHL)."
