Keegan Dansereau got the message.

And now he's making a statement of his own.

Less than a week after being a healthy scratch, Dansereau scored a pair of goals for the second straight night to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-2 win over the Tigers in Medicine Hat.

Riley Merkley and Steve Covington also scored for Calgary (10-6-0-1).

Hitmen GM/head coach Kelly Kisio said Dansereau has been much better since sitting out a 5-3 win at Lethbridge last week.

"They're young guys and they tend to go sideways on you once in a while," Kisio said. "Sometimes they need a bit of a wakeup call."

Dan Spence made 30 saves as Calgary won its fourth straight game.

"We've played a lot of hockey lately but the guys sucked it up and worked real hard tonight," Kisio said.

Merkley scored the lone goal of the first period before Dansereau made it 2-0 early in the second.

The Tigers (13-4-0-0) stormed back with goals from Tyler Swystun and Kris Russell but Dansereau got the winner with eight minutes to go.

Covington scored into an empty net.

Hitmen forward Brodie Dupont assisted on the winner to extend his points streak to 11 games.

The Tigers visit the 'Dome Thursday (7 p.m.).
