Giants set sights on club record

Western Hockey League-leading Vancouver Giants will try to set a club record for consecutive home wins when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings tomorrow at 7 p.m. (AM 730).

Giants, 12-0 plus one overtime loss, has a pair of wins over the weekend to stretch their Pacific Coliseum streak to eight.

Tim Kraus and Jonathon Blum had power play markers and Michal Repik added an empty-netter in Friday's 3- 0 win over the Spokane Chiefs. Chiefs' star Michael Grabner, Vancouver Canucks' first round draft pick last summer, had a lacklustre performance.

Spencer Mahacek scored the first goal and assisted on Milan Lucic's winner in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Saskatoon Blades.

Giants end the homestand Friday at 7:30 p.m. against the Kelowna Rockets and visit Spokane on Saturday. They embark on a four-game, fiveday Alberta road trip starting in November.

 Chilliwack Bruins doubled the Chiefs 4-2 on Saturday for the expansion franchise's second win. Host Bruins came back from a 2-1 deficit to score three unanswered goals. Swede Oscar Moller had a pair of goals and Josh Aspenlind had two helpers. Saskatoon visits Chilliwack tonight at 7 p.m. (88.1 FM).

The B.C. Hockey League's junior A Alberni Valley Bulldogs visit Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to face the national champion Burnaby Express. Express, 6-10, host the only other Lower Mainland BCHL game of the weekend when the Salmon Arm Silverbacks visit Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
