The Hitmen won't be pleased with their road trip.

But the bus ride home should be a lot less tense after they salvaged the final game of their three-game roadie.

Overage winger Steve Covington scored a pair of goals to lead the way as Calgary beat the Wheat Kings 6-3 in Brandon.

Ryan Letts, Brodie Dupont, Robin Figren, with his first WHL goals and Derek LeBlanc also scored.

LeBlanc was traded to Calgary by Brandon at last year's trade deadline for defenceman Dustin Kohn, who had two assists last night.

Juraj Simek scored twice for the Wheaties while Codey Burki chipped in with a single.

Dan Spence made 26 saves to record the win. Tyler Plante kicked out 27 pucks in absorbing the loss.

The Hitmen connected on four of 10 powerplay opportunities and killed off six of eight shorthanded situations.

Calgary hosts the Kootenay Ice Friday (7 p.m. at the 'Dome).
