Looks like a Calgary Hitmen defenceman's going to display his vocal talents for his teammates and fans of the WHL club.

The team announced yesterday Dylan Yeo, the nephew of former NHL defenceman Dave Manson, will sing the national anthem next Friday when the Hitmen tangle with the Kootenay Ice at the Saddledome (7 p.m.).

It's the first time a player has sang the anthem.

"The Hitmen take a special interest in all our players, not only on the ice but off as well," said team spokesman Kip Reghenas in a statement.

"Dylan has a special talent and we'd like to help showcase that skill to all our fans."

Knowing Yeo, who likes to wear a black stetson and cowboy boots, chances are good his rendition of O Canada will have a country edge to it.

Yeo, 20, hasn't played yet this season because of a wrist injury.
