Rogers Television veteran Mark Schadenberg is the new TV play-by-play face of the London Knights.

Schadenberg, who replaces Leigh Cunningham, has been a familiar sight on broadcasts the past eight years, acting in on-air roles for Western Mustangs sports and working the Ontario men's curling championship for a provincial, prime-time audience.

"We're sorry to say farewell to Leigh but we're delighted to have Mark on board and we're excited to have the qualities he brings to our broadcast team," said Rogers station manager Mike Patterson.

Former Knight Rick Doyle returns as colour commentator while Brent Lale continues with his hosting duties.

Cunningham, a long-time OHL commentator who lives in Sarnia, has signed with the Windsor Spitfires. He'll cover them on radio station AM 800 CKLW. He'll act as colour man to Steve Bell for home games and handle play-by-play on the road.

Cunningham and Lale became a story during last year's playoffs when Knights GM Mark Hunter complained the pair didn't say enough nice things about his team during broadcasts.

But Cunningham says it was the opportunity to cover a team for all 68 games, plus additional financial incentives, that has him heading to the Spitfires.

"I have a lot of respect for Mark and Dale Hunter," Cunningham said. "I spoke to Mark a day after (the controversy broke) and we had a great conversation and I left satisfied . . .

"I know in this business you're not going to please everybody all the time, but it was Mark who first asked me to come in (for TV) and it ended up being a great experience with the quality of hockey that was played in London over the last four years."

Rogers Television will cover all home games, except when Sportsnet is here.

To institute the new video replay, the OHL has added goal-line cameras above each net. Rogers Television will have access to those pictures and will provide the in-house video goal judge official with any additional shots necessary to make a ruling.
