Ottawa 67's centre Logan Couture is rated the No. 1 prospect on International Scouting Service's season-ending list for the 2007 NHL entry draft.
Heading the ISS' final list for the 2006 draft is defenceman Erik Johnson from the U.S. under-18s, followed by the U of North Dakota's Jonathan Toews and Jordan Staal of the Peterborough Petes. The ISS lists prospects from North America and Europe.
"What impressed us the most about Logan is his complete game," said Dennis MacInnis, the director of scouting for ISS. "And the way he elevated it as the season progressed. He was simply fantastic in the playoffs.
"He's a humble kid, he's mature and he's very coachable ... all the scouts and coaches have nothing but great things to say about him."
Couture, a 6-foot, 191-pounder, had 25 goals and 39 assists in 65 games. While he was rated in the ISS' Top 10 list throughout the season, he moved ahead of the Quebec Remparts' Angelo Esposito on the final report card.
"This is more of a compliment to Logan than it is a stab at Esposito," MacInnis said.
