Hockey Canada announced yesterday that all five bids submitted to host the 2009 IIHF world junior championships -- including one from Ottawa backed by the Senators -- have made the selection committee's short list.
In addition to Ottawa, Hockey Canada has received bids from Montreal, Toronto and joint bids from Calgary/Edmonton and Saskatoon/Regina.
Each of the finalists will make a 30-minute presentation in Calgary on April 18, followed by a 30-minute question period by the selection committee.
The selection committee includes Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson, Hockey Canada chair Rene Marcil, Canadian Hockey League president Dave Branch and Hockey Canada senior VP Scott Smith.
The winning bid for the tournament will be announced next month.
