The Oshawa Generals of the OHL have fired coach Randy Ladouceur and assistant coach Michael Oke. The Gens missed the playoffs for the second year in a row.

Despite the presence of 15-year-old John Tavares, who finished second in OHL rookie scoring with 77 points (45 goals and 32 assists) in 65 games, the Generals were 18-45-4-1 and were last in the Eastern Conference with 41 points. Only the Sarnia Sting were worse in the league.

Ladouceur, a former NHL defenceman and assistant coach, had been hired by the Generals in January 2005.

The Erie Otters also are in the market for a new coach, after deciding not to renew the contract of Dave MacQueen.
