The Akim Aliu trade watch came to a merciful end on the weekend when the OHL rookie was traded to the Sudbury Wolves from the Windsor Spitfires for Keaton Turkiewicz, Jordan Cheechoo and a second-round draft pick in 2007.

Aliu fought former Spits teammate Steve Downie, who last week helped lead Canada to the gold medal at the world junior championship, during practice in September. A subsequent investigation by OHL commissioner David Branch led to the discovery of hazing incident on the Spits bus in September.

Aliu had been at home in Toronto awaiting a trade, which had to be done Jan. 1-10 because he was a first-round pick last spring. Downie earlier was traded to the Peterborough Petes from Windsor.

Aliu, a 6-foot-3, 209-pound winger, made his Wolves debut in yesterday's 1-0 loss to the Battalion in Brampton.
