Dubnyk sits, but Pogge may go wire to wire as Canada's starter

VANCOUVER -- You have to go back to 1992 to find a goalie who went wire to wire in the Canadian cage.

Trevor Kidd played every minute in goal for Canada at the 1992 World Junior.

Coach Brent Sutter surprised some by going against tradition and giving the game against the up-from-relegation team to the back-up goalie when he decided to stay with Justin Pogge and leave Oilers prospect Devan Dubnyk on the bench.

"We didn't think Pogge has had much work. He had 17 shots in each of the first two games. My gut feeling was to go with him again. That's what the staff wanted to do, too.

"I wanted to deliver a message not to take this game lightly.''

Pogge didn't expect the start.

"I was a little bit surprised. But I didn't have the greatest game against Switzerland the other night.''
