Hitmen playing to perfection

The Calgary Hitmen are No. 1 in the country.

They may not be ranked that high but last night's 4-0 win over the visiting Red Deer Rebels left the Hitmen as the only team in the CHL with a perfect record.

Ryan White, Keegan Dansereau, Brett Carson and Alex Plante scored for Calgary, which improved to 6-0 for the first time in franchise history.

GM/head coach Kelly Kisio may have a problem: Overconfidence.

"We'll keep them grounded as best as possible," Kisio said.

"But if the guys come out and compete as hard as they did tonight, we'll be fine. This was, by far, our best 60-minute effort."

Calgary has won half of its games via the shootout, which should keep the players' heads from expanding too much.

"Luck has gone our way," Kisio said. "And I'm sure we'll get it fed to us some night. The guys were talking about it after the last shootout. They said, 'We can't be doing this every night. We have to be much better from the start.' "

The Hitmen defence completely bottled up what little attack the Rebels managed to muster.

Justin Pogge made just 13 stops in recording his second shutout in as many nights. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect hasn't allowed a goal in 151 minutes and 12 seconds.

But he was largely a spectator last night.

"I've got to give this shutout to my team," Pogge said. "They played unbelievable.

"There's no limit to what this team can do."
