HOW THE DEVIL ARE YOU?

I'm good. How are you?

GREAT. IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

I'm probably watching a WHL game or, like most Canadians, I'll be tuned into Hockey Night In Canada when it's back on.

WILL YOU WATCH WITHOUT ANNOUNCERS?

(Laughs). Absolutely. Any hockey game is a good hockey game.

PICK FIVE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF.

I would say probably intense, dedicated, hard-working. We'll keep it at three.

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL?

I didn't do as well as I would have liked. I was too busy playing sports all the time.

WHAT'S YOUR MOST TREASURED MATERIAL POSSESSION?

I would say my sports memorabilia. I collect hockey and baseball memorabilia.

IF I'M BUYING, WHAT ARE YOU HAVING?

Oh, probably a big steak dinner and a cold beer.

WHAT'S YOUR MOST UNPLEASANT CHARACTERISTIC?

My lack of patience.

WHAT'S THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING YOU'VE EVER BOUGHT?

When I was 12, I bought a switchblade when we were in Mexico. I didn't tell my parents until we got home and I didn't realize I could have gone to jail.

WHAT'S THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?

There's no substitute for hard work and you're only young once, so have fun. That's passed me by now (laughs).

WHAT WAS THE FIRST CAR YOU OWNED?

The first car was a '71 Volkswagen Beetle. It was a nice car and it got me through the Saskatchewan winters.

WHAT CAR REPAIRS CAN YOU PERFORM?

None. I have no mechanical skills at all. I can't find any time to clean it, either.

IF YOU COULD BE COMMISSIONER OF ANY LEAGUE, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

This is going to sound funny but I think I'm doing it. I really enjoy what I'm doing and I feel there's lots of growth and challenges ahead.

WHAT'S YOUR CULINARY SPECIALTY?

Barbecue. It's very limited but barbecued steaks, burgers. That's about it.

DO YOU HAVE A FUNKY RING ON YOUR CELLPHONE?

No. It's pretty basic. The quieter the better because it rings too often. I put it on vibrate a lot because it gets to be annoying.

WHO'S THE MOST FAMOUS PERSON IN YOUR CELLPHONE ADDRESS BOOK?

Hmmm. I don't have a lot. My family, the office and David Branch, president of the CHL. How about that?

ARE YOU EASILY EMBARRASSED?

Not really. I think when you're commissioner, you get thick-skinned.

WHAT TV SERIES DO YOU WANT ON DVD?

I don't really watch much TV. How about Hogan's Heroes?

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE UNHEALTHY FOOD?

That would be hamburgers.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO HOLIDAY?

Anywhere warm with a golf course.

WHAT'S THE BEST CONCERT YOU'VE SEEN?

Good question. I would have to say the Rolling Stones. They were pretty good. It was an outdoor concert in Edmonton. It must have been 10 years ago now. They're pretty special.

ARE YOU GOING TO GO SEE THEM HERE?

No, I don't think so.

IF YOU WEREN'T COMMISSIONER OF THE WHL, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?

Probably still running my marketing business. I was doing that before I joined the league five years ago.

WHAT TRAIT DO YOU ADMIRE IN PEOPLE?

I'd have to say loyalty and hard work.

DO YOU GUYS HAVE A PET?

Yeah, we've got a dog named Bud. He's a miniature Schnauzer.

WHAT WAS THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE?

I think probably my first year of university, when I was 18.

WHAT'S YOUR GREATEST FEAR?

A fear of falling from a high height.

WHAT'S YOUR WORST HABIT?

Probably not getting home on time and always being a little late.

WHAT MOVIE MADE YOU TEARY-EYED?

Oh boy. I watch comedies only (laughs).

WHAT'S THE FUNNIEST THING YOU'VE EVER SEEN AT A GAME?

Probably when the streaker fell off the glass onto the ice at the Saddledome that night. That was pretty funny.

WHAT'S THE UGLIEST THING IN YOUR WARDROBE?

I'd have to say my shoes (laughs).

COULD YOU BE CONVINCED TO KARAOKE AND, IF YOU, WHAT SONG WOULD YOU SING?

I could and I'd do any old Beatles tune.

DO YOU KNOW THEM ALL?

Sure.

WHO IS GOING TO WIN THE WHL CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR?

It'll be the team that wins the final series (laughs).
