LONDON -- Ottawa's bid for a Memorial Cup title will start with rookie Jamie McGinn in the lineup.

But 67's coach Brian Kilrea didn't know if the 16-year-old would be ready until after yesterday morning's practice at the Western Fair Arena.

Asked if McGinn would play in Ottawa's opening game of the tournament today against the Kelowna Rockets, Kilrea went into the team's dressing room to speak with the rookie before returning to the hallway to say the kid would be ready.

McGinn suffered an upper-body injury during the second game of the OHL final against the Knights and missed the rest of the series.

The rookie had four goals and 11 points prior to the injury, including the overtime winner that completed a four-game sweep of the Peterborough Petes in the Eastern Conference championship.

BACK WITH LINEMATES

Kilrea said McGinn's presence is important because he'll return to the left side on a line with centre Julian Talbot and right winger Chris Hulit, a unit that had been working well for the 67's during the second half of the season and during the playoffs.

It also allows winger Bryan Bickell to stay on his regular line with centre Brad Bonello and right winger Mark Mancari.
