Life's good for Calgary Hitmen overager Tyrel Lucas.

The 21-year-old scored twice in last night's 4-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings, including the game-winner, which helped the local WHL club take a 3-1 series lead heading back to Brandon for tomorrow's tilt.

Lucas, who hails from Williams Lake, B.C., is playing his best hockey since coming over from Prince George at the WHL trade deadline.

However, as good as things are for him and linemates Brett O'Malley and Konstantin Pushkarev in these playoffs, Lucas knows there are still some steps to take.

"The series isn't over yet," he said. "We've got a big game on Friday and we've got to keep playing has hard as we have been.

"I'm feeling pretty good and our line is going good. I couldn't do it without those guys. Everyone is battling hard and we're coming through."

O'Malley, also an overaged junior, can't help but smile when talking about Lucas.

"He's picked it up big time. He's one of our leading goal-getters in the playoffs and it shows with the way our line is playing over the last two or three games," he said.

After last night's game, Lucas is tied with Shaun Landolt at five goals, second best on the Hitmen in the playoffs behind Andrew Ladd, who has seven markers.
