The WHL's board of governors yesterday rejected an application by the Tri-City Americans to relocate to Chilliwack, B.C. for the 2005-06 season.
Does that leave the door open for the Edmonton Oilers?
That's what Oilers' president Patrick LaForge intends to find out.
Will the owners of the Americans, who have twice rebuffed offers to purchase by the Oilers, put the team up for sale?
Will the Americans stay in Kennewick as a lame-duck franchise next season?
"I don't know," said LaForge, who'll be looking for some details from WHL commissioner Ron Robison in coming days.
"I haven't been told anything, but I plan to talk to Ron to see what the situation is."
