Pogge peeved with pair

At first glance, the save total is excellent.

Having faced 41 shots and only surrendering two goals, it would seem Justin Pogge had a great night.

And that's on top of the fact he backstopped the Hitmen to a 3-2 double overtime win last night over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

But, rest assured, the Calgary Hitmen netminder would like to have both goals scored against him back.

"The first one got tipped on the way but, still, I should have had it," said Pogge. "There's not much you can do about it, just look past and get ready for the next shot."

And the second tally?

"A little miscommunication between me and Dylan Yeo," he shrugged. "You can't look at those bad goals. It's a long game, two goals is nothing."

Funny thing, as soon as he'd been beaten twice, Pogge zeroed in on the task.

It was almost like he knew the time had come to slam the door shut because his teammates would get three.

"I made sure those goals weren't gonna get me down," he said. "You've got to look on, there's a whole game ahead of you and you never know what's going to happen, especially in double overtime.

"You can't look at bad goals in that situation, just look past it and build your confidence up as you go along."

You can bet his teammates were happy to come through. It's nothing new to playoff hockey, a goalie can steal games. Sometimes it's the guys with the curved blades on their feet who have to dig a little deeper.

Amidst the post-game celebrations, Ryan Getzlaf admitted it felt good to know the club came through for their netminder.

"It's tough on a goalie, he's got a lot of pressure and he's been outstanding for us in the first three games. There's nights where pucks don't go your way and there was an unfortunate bounce with Yeosie," Getzlaf said. "Those are the ones you win for him and you know he'll be confident in Game 5.

"Goalies are odd like you know and they have their own way of doing things. We don't need to get on him because he'll bounce back the way he does."
