2. Nicholas Drazenovic, Cougars; Smooth-skating centre created all the offence for P.G.

3. Dustin Kohn, Hitmen; Sophomore d-man was solid defensively and chipped in with a pair of assists.

TURNING POINT:

C Riley Merkley banged a backhander past Cougars starter Real Cyr 4:15 into the third period to give Calgary a two-goal cushion. It proved to be the game-winner.

SAVE OF THE GAME:

Calgary starter Justin Pogge kicked out the left pad to deny Andy Rogers from point-blank range and then, without his stick, dove across to rob Nicholas Drazenovic at the side of the net on the rebound late in the first period.

HIT OF THE GAME:

Hitmen RW Steve Covington, with a full head of steam, blasted Brett Parker into the boards at centre ice late in the third.

FIGHT CARD:

Hitmen blueliner Jeff Schultz, not known as a fighter, squared off with ex-teammate Lee Zalasky. Neither player landed any major blows.

HARDEST WORKER:

Calgary LW Andrew Ladd, playing without injured linemate Ryan Getzlaf, put in a solid effort and was rewarded with a pair of helpers.
