The Ontario Hockey League trade deadline is not until Monday but some clubs are getting the jump already.

The St. Michael's Majors yesterday traded defenceman Steve Whitely to the Saginaw Spirit for forward Peter Franchin.

Whitely recorded no points and 26 penalty minutes in 30 games with the Majors this season.

Franchin has scored nine goals and added three assists with 17 penalty minutes in 30 games with the Spirit.

Goalie Matthew Spezza, the younger brother of Jason Spezza, has been traded to the Ottawa 67's from the Kingston Frontenacs for future considerations.

And the Sarnia Sting dealt forward Kelsey Wilson to the Guelph Storm for forward Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn.
