JIM CRESSMAN -- London Free Press

Sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do, such as begging for an assist, especially when he's a London Knight. Corey Perry was "jobbed" out of an assist on a power-play goal by Sidney Crosby during Canada's 8-1 win over Sweden on Monday. Perry, at the blue line, fed the puck to Patrice Bergeron in the corner, who in turn sent it across the goalmouth to Crosby.

As is the case many times in international play where the referee awards the assists (there's no official scorer), only Bergeron was announced. At the end of the period, I turned in my seat in the press box and mentioned to some official looking types that No. 24 of Canada should have received an assist on the last goal.

It turned out those officials have the authority to review the video and award extra assists if warranted. Upon further review, Perry was given an assist.

Chalk one up for the power of the press.
