Julien Ellis nearly stole one for the visitors last night at the Robert Guertin Centre. The Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender stopped 52 shots in preserving a 2-2 draw with the Gatineau Olympiques in their QMJHL matchup yesterday.

The 'Piques were all over Shawinigan in the final two periods and overtime, posting a 41-19 edge in shots, including 16-5 in the third.

But Gatineau (2-0-1) needed a goal from Kevin Petit with 22 seconds left in regulation time just to earn a point.

Shawinigan's Benoit Mondou opened the scoring 12:21 into the first period, but Sam Roberts tied it up four minutes later for the Olympiques.

Stefano Gillati had the lone goal of the second period for the Cataractes.

'Piques goaltender David Tremblay blocked 30-of-32 shots he faced.

Gatineau travels to Baie-Comeau on Friday to face the Drakkar.
