Moose slide reaches six games
By QMI Agency

Give the Worcester Sharks marketing department credit: They know when to make it "Guaranteed Win Night."

The Worcester organization said their Sharks were going to beat the reeling Manitoba Moose on Friday night in the Massachusetts city, and that's exactly what happened.

Worcester handed Manitoba its season-high sixth straight setback with a 5-3 triumph, meaning the nearly 4,000 fans in attendance did not receive a free ticket to next Friday's game.

The Moose, who also lost to Worcester on Wednesday now travel to Wilkes-Barre, where they will take on the Penguins Saturday night and Sunday afternoon to finish off their six-game road trip. Manitoba's record fell to 23-21-4-1.

The Moose trailed 4-3 late in the third when Guillaume Desbiens was awarded a penalty shot. He failed to score, and the Sharks added an empty-netter.

Mario Bliznak gave Manitoba a 1-0 lead just 53 seconds into the game, but Brandon Mashinter tied it up for the Sharks at 13:21 of the first. Desbiens gave the visitors a 2-1 lead after one period with his 10th of the season.

Worcester scored twice in the second to take the lead and then went up 4-2 with 4:34 left in the third.

Defenceman Brian Salcido got the Moose to within one with 3:08 left, but that's as close as they got. Cory Schneider suffered the loss for the Moose, making 28 saves.
