The Toronto Marlies continued down their road to ruin on Saturday night.
The hometown Houston Aeros built up a 4-0 lead by the midway point of the game and cruised to a 5-2 American Hockey League victory, dropping the Marlies' record on their current road swing to 0-4-2. They have scored just 10 goals in those six games.
The loss left Toronto (15-19-7) one point out of last place overall in the Eastern Conference standings.
Greg Scott and Kyle Calder scored third-period goals to cut the Marlies deficit to 4-2. But a short-handed goal by Aeros' J.P. Testwuide settled things.
The Marlies are in San Antonio this afternoon.
