The Calgary Flames will reportedly move their AHL farm team from Omaha after two seasons and relocate the squad to the Iowa/Illinois area known as the Quad-Cities.
When contacted last night by the Omaha World-Herald, Flames president Ken King would neither confirm nor deny the move.
"I'd love to help you with it but it would be inappropriate of me to say anything at this time," he said. "What's most important is the development of our players."
King couldn't be reached for comment last night by the Sun.
According to the World-Herald, the Knights -- who were third worst in AHL attendance -- will leave after failing to carve a niche in the city that also has a USHL junior team and a popular NCAA club.
The Knights lost US $4 million over the two seasons.
Knights president Ren Smith told the World-Herald he was unaware of a move, noting the team was selling season ticket packages for next season.
"As far as I know, nothing has been determined," Smith said. "I know we've done everything we possibly can to make this franchise work."
