Jesse Schultz's return to the Manitoba Moose was a brief one.
The right-winger missed games on Wednesday and Friday due to what was believed to be a head injury.
Schultz returned to the lineup yesterday against Peoria, but he took a huge hit from Rivermen defenceman Roman Polak in the second period and didn't play in the third.
Moose head coach Scott Arniel said Schultz aggravated his affliction, which the team is describing only as an "upper-body" injury, and is day-to-day.
Regardless, there's probably a good chance Schultz won't accompany the team to Texas today.
Arniel said it was too early to say if the Moose will be calling in any reinforcements for their four-game road trip.
They had two healthy scratches yesterday in Marc-Andre Bernier and Alexandre Bolduc.
COULDA BEEN PERFECT: Moose netminder Drew MacIntyre would have had back-to-back shutouts were it not for a dribbling puck that somehow got past him in Friday's 4-1 win over the Rivermen.
Mike Glumac's weak little backhand fooled MacIntyre late in the second period on Friday night and just squeaked over the goal-line.
"That stupid little goal," MacIntyre lamented. "At this point, all I really care about is wins. I don't get too wrapped up in stats. I want my wins."
MacIntyre is 5-5-2 this season.
HEAD START: The Moose are leaving for Texas today, which is a day earlier than they would normally depart for a road trip.
Manitoba is playing 13 games between Dec. 1 and 21, so Arniel wants to give his weary troops a chance to relax tomorrow after a quick, 45-minute practice.
"Other than that, it'll just be get yourself a good meal and some rest and enjoy the weather," Arniel said. "If they want to do some Christmas shopping or if they want to just hang out at the hotel or whatever, it'll be a nice break for them."
AROUND THE GLASS: MacIntyre's shutout yesterday was his second in 49 career AHL games ... Centre Brad Moran had six assists during Manitoba's four-game homestand ... Moran and Jason Jaffray both have four-game point streaks going.
