Here is this week’s AHL Top 10. The numbers in parentheses are the
previous week’s ranking.
1. ROCHESTER (4)
The hottest organization in hockey keeps on rolling along in Western
New York.
2. WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (1)
A few demerits are offered for a shabby road loss to a Philadelphia
team with an ever-changing roster.
3. IOWA (7)
The Stars have slipped past a strong Omaha team.
4. HERSHEY (3)
The Bears crushed Syracuse, 5-0, at home and followed it up with a
clunker to Philadelphia.
5. OMAHA (2)
The Baby Flames have perhaps cooled a bit, but Dustin Boyd is back.
6. PROVIDENCE (NOT RANKED)
Nothing new – head coach Scott Gordon is taking another rag-tag
bunch and winning. The P-Bruins are red-hot, but visits from Norfolk
and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this weekend should serve as a good
barometer.
7. PORTLAND (5)
The Pirates find themselves battling a tough Providence team.
8. NORFOLK (6)
The Ads finished a grueling week by taking a 6-3 beating at Wilkes-
Barre/Scranton.
9. CHICAGO (9)
Putting up 10 goals against a solid Peoria team will make opponents
take notice.
10. WORCESTER (NOT RANKED)
The Sharks are vastly improved over last season’s San Jose
affiliate, the Cleveland Barons.
